5 MAKEUP TIPS FOR DRY SKIN PEOPLE.
Living with dry skin can be too annoying and there are times when your skin looks like a drought. If you are also a makeup junkie, you need to take care of your skin more, especially in winters. While doing makeup on dry skin, moisturizer to hydrate is not enough. And to help you with that, we have curated 5 makeup tips that would be very helpful for girls with dry skin.
Important: Make sure to exfoliate once a week to get rid of the dead skin (prefer using chemical exfoliation instead of physical exfoliation). Always keep in mind not to apply makeup for at least 2 days after exfoliation as it can break you out, so schedule it accordingly.
STEP - #1 PREPPING THE SKIN
First things first, everyone knows the importance of skin prep but does not know what their skin requires. If you have extremely dry skin and get patchy-looking dead skin very often, the following are the things that might help you.
- Wash your face with hydrating face wash, apply and leave it for 30 seconds and rinse. It will help your skin to seep in the hydration and loosen up your dead skin cells and remove the patchiness which can further make your makeup look patchy.
- Toner is an additional step for dry skin. One can skip on that but if you want to use a toner, get any but make sure it should not be drying or oil-controlling. You can use rosewater or a toner containing chamomile essence.
- Apply a serum containing hyaluronic acid which will plump your skin and lock in the hydration. Follow it up with a heavy moisturizer and give it some time to seep into the skin.
- If your skin is very extremely dry due to weather changes, use a mask sheet instead of serum which will provide you an instant boost of hydration.
- Use a nourishing and hydrating primer skin, you can simply go with any hydration boosting primers or priming oils.
- Add niacinamide to your skincare routine to strengthen your skin barriers. 
STEP - #2 SKIP ONTO MATTES.
When you apply matte foundation, it can accentuate those dry patches and end up looking cakey. So, if your skin is behaving too dried out, go for dewy or semi-matte formulations of foundation, as they do not further dry your skin and keep it looking radiant and hydrated.
STEP - #3 PICK OUT CREAM BLUSH, BRONZER, AND HIGHLIGHTER.
For blush, bronzer and highlighter, choose a stick with cream formulas for the time your skin acts like a desert.
Again, powders may make dry skin look even drier, however, you can work with powder products while using them light-handedly (if your skin doesn't dry out very often and you have prepped your skin with hydrating products).
STEP - #4 PLAY SMART WITH SETTING POWDERS
The baking trend has changed the complete game of the beauty industry. However, if you have extremely dry skin, baking may not work for you, powders tend to look cakey on dry skin. A person with extremely dry skin can skip onto the loose or compact powder but if you feel your foundation slips off easily and your makeup doesn't stay in place for longer, take a loose or compact powder on the brush, dust it off and apply the left-over powder light-handedly. Less is more. It will set your makeup without looking cakey. Always keep a setting spray handy, spray it all over before and after powdering your face to make your makeup last longer.
STEP - #5 LIGHTWEIGHT COVERAGE WORKS THE BEST.
Opting for foundations and concealers which are lightweight and have medium coverage is best suitable for dry skin. Full coverage products often look cakey and patchy on dry skin, and it is difficult to blend them seamlessly into your skin.
Pro tip: if you have a matte or semi-matte foundation and your skin is behaving extremely dry, you can mix it with lotion, day creams, sunscreens, or liquid illuminators/strobe creams.
